    HELP!!! Grandma Brown’s Baked Beans

I’m looking for any baked beans I can buy in a can or a hack that someone has tried that taste like Grandma Brown’s Baked Beans.

If you are from western New York or Northwestern PA you probably know what I’m talking about. These are the best baked beans from a can ever. The are thicker than most baked beans from a can and do not have any BBQ flavoring to them. The ingredients are water, navy beans, brown sugar, bacon, salt and baking soda. So simple but so delicious. I’d doctor them up a bit by adding a bit more bacon, a bit more brown sugar, some minced onions and a squirt of yellow mustard.

They were a staple at any outdoor cookout I had, they made great beanie weinie casserole and great bean sandwiches

The company that makes them shut down during Covid and never reopened. There are rumors every so often that they are going to be opening again but it never happens.

It’s been over a year since I last tasted these delicious beans of joy and I’m craving them something fierce.

If anyone can help me get my “fix” I’d greatly appreciate it.

Bushes Baked Beans are great, I mean really good. That is any variety of Bushes Baked beans.
As long as we are talking canned beans.

bbqLuv these are different. I know exactly what ssandy_561 means. They are more beans and less sauce, and thus they are more of a blank slate for flavors.

The copycat recipes are all the same, so this is probably pretty close.

Grandma Brown's canned baked beans are available in the northeast USA but not common elsewhere. They are very simple with only 6 ingredients named on

Mosca , you may be on to something. That recipe looks as though it might make a sweet batch of beans. Not sweet as in cool, but sweet as in sweet. Not a fan of sweet beans, usually, but I always give them a fair try. Sometimes there's just the perfect balance of sweet and savory in a can of baked beans.

ssandy_561 , you had me at beanie weenies over a campfire. Brings back a lot of fun memories.

Most recipes anticipate a canned baked bean like Campbell’s or Bush’s. Grandma’s taste like beans. If you open a can expecting a traditional taste, your first thought is, “Huh?” But there’s not really that much sugar in there, only a quarter cup for a pound of beans.

Mosca That is basically the same as my mom's Boston Baked Beans recipe. Hers has a little mustard powder, molasses, and uses salt pork instead of ham. At the end of baking they are thick, not a lot of sauce. For less sweet, leave out the molasses and reduce sugar to taste.

I've gotten bored with my baked bean recipe. There aren't any in the forum recipe section so I am asking for your help. Would you mind sharing your favorite baked bean recipe, please?

My aunt makes her beanz with baked or BBQed pork hocks for flavor, the dish is always scraped clean by dinners end.
