If someone is on the board in a 'Free Trial' capacity, is there a way for a member to gift them a one year paid membership without it being a recurring charge on the gift-givers CC?
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

You can buy it, give the login info, and then ask the giftee to add their own CC to the account. (User Settings > My Membership) If they do this then their CC will be billed at renewal time. Currently this is really the only way.
Well, shoot. I was hoping it was like another forum I'm a member of where you can input a users name and it will upgrade their account while being a one-time charge to my CC. A little too trusting to drop a card number in hopes they delete the info.

The problem with a prepaid card is the giftee would have to reload it before the 1-yr mark or the charge wouldn't go through, resulting in a possible end of membership. If they reloaded it in time, it would work. Having staff enter the card is less secure, it's best if you or the giftee just enter the info that way a third party doesn't see the info.
Well, it would be up to the gift receiver if they wanted to re-up on their own dime just as it is for all members. My goal was to donate a year to get a free trial member "into the fold". Sounds like it can't safely be done. Oh well, it was a good thought.

Jlock It can be done. If you'd like to gift someone a membership, just purchase it with a unique email address, and provide them the login info. Then, email or PM me with the details of this new account and I can terminate the membership at its 1-yr end, it will remain active for the year purchased of course, but it will not renew. Then if the member wants to keep it open they can add their own CC. I just do not ever want to see anyone's CC #, for everyone's safety and peace of mind
I can change their username and email address after the fact if they'd like, to keep it better customized for them.
