hey raywjohnson, I'm assuming you're getting some well deserved rest. There's a few posts I'm getting errors on, and I'm assuming others are too. Pretty generic message, but I figure you can track it down. I included the address bar, along with the message, so you know which post in particular I was trying to access.

It is happening on other posts as well, so I'm assuming some DB references are probably either missing when you grabbed the latest backup, or their primary keys is missing.

No worries, except I can't see any of the posts on my plea for out of state mover's recommendations. Same error message. Anyway, rest up, my world is not ending, so this is just a heads up message for you. Thanks again for all the things you do for us!

That is fixed. Not any issues with the data, files, or website. It is just that I put a hard jackboot on the neck of the security protocols and some necessary functions were blocked: exec, curl_exec, etc. I fixed that and all seems to be working correctly now.

However, I am doing many more security protocols. Many that used to just a PITA to manage, so were not enabled. In the world of AI, where any jackass can create hacking tools, max security from now on. Example SELinux -- this is the first server where I spent the time to learn to implement it. I know I should have done this sooner, but I cannot easily express how stupid and non-intuitive setting this up is.

Developers need at least 7 1/2 hours of sleep in our chair at work everyday, so that leaves a half hour to fix what broke! Well, 15 minutes, there's coffee or Mt. Dew involved, and it ain't gonna pour itself.

Oddly enough, my employer's site got caught up in some hackers hijinks last week while I was on vacation. We had to shut down our CC processing. Someone had pointed a bot at it and was trying to validate stolen CC numbers. Our bank was not happy.

Back in the day, we called them script kiddies, but nowadays raywjohnson is right, they just use AI to design their attacks and exploit anything they can.

I'm currently sifting through 5 reports, 800+ pages each, of security scans... My summer work just got scheduled for me...

Yep. I forgot about the IP change and had to let GMail know that it is ok to send from the new IP address. Email should be working again,

Follow up. For anyone that got the Cloudflare screen of "oh crap" -- that was a bug from one of my security scanners. Broke the web service from restarting. I have fixed that. For the record, the one that broke pulls the IP (v4 and v6) list from Cloudflare to update the web service configuration. This ensures that any attack on the site must go through cloudflare. Even if they know the real IP of the site, they cannot do hacker tricks directly. And cloudflare has many defenses in place.
