I'm sure it's me. I have read the instructions on how to use the search function many times and I still can't get it to work. For example when I put in "beef back ribs", my understanding is that I will get results with that exact phrase and that only. Am I wrong? Unfortunately it doesn't work like that for me.
I want to figure this out so I don't ask a question on a topic that has been already talked about many times.
Yes, general searching here is the “Pits.”
I’d start with the top search bar, select options and select Advanced Search. Further down the page is a section entitled Sources. You can limit which channels to include in the search using Sources. Careful use of quotes can help limit search terms.
Another method is to use another search engine with your search terms but limit the search to pitmaster.amazingribs.com. Each search engine has there own method to limit to a particular website so you would need to learn how each one does that.
Good luck.
When I search, I always start on the public side before logging in as I have better luck with that. I put in "beef back ribs" and got these topics. Not sure if that helps or not...
Enter beef back ribs into the search box, select OPTIONS, ADVANCED SEARCH, then click on "title only," which is off to the right, you will pull up more threads specific to that search instead of each individual post that has those words in it.

It's not user error. The Pit search engine has never (at least since I joined) worked correctly. As an alternative, just go to google and enter the following phrase:
You can then go to any of the many results that Google presents you with. It's a bit clunky ... but at least it works.

I just tried this idea from Carolyn and it worked a heck of a lot better than what I was doing. Thanks
It would be nice if there was an 'exact phrase' search option with another option for posts vs title, but we don't have that, we have a 'keyword' search, sooooooo🤞🤞🙂.
I think it has to do with the platform the website is on or the code or….. something. Remember the “old days” when if you wanted to search for beef back ribs, you entered in: beef+back+ribs
SheilaAnn I guess my use of 🤞🤞made it look like I was hoping for that option. Ha Ha. I was more using it for 'good luck' with your keyword search. I didn't think that one through. 🥴
A great number of us are old farts that have no problem with telling the same story over and over again to a new audience. Still looking at you Uncle Bob 😁
If you look at the jokes thread, there are maybe 100 jokes that just get recycled over and over. That doesn't stop me from looking at them every time they pop up. 😂
Speaking of which Bogy, I haven't heard anything from Ole or Lena lately. What have they been up to? 🤔
A few weeks ago I was in two conversations with other preachers as to whether preachers have one sermon they preach over and over, or it's three sermons they keep repeating. I think there are probably only, at max, four or five jokes. The secret is to find a way to tell the joke that seems original. That being said, I'll see if I can find out what Ole and Lena have been up to lately. Pretty cold in dere neck of da woods, doncha know!
