I got this message while searching in the homepage.
"Search results are unavailable due to a quota problem with this search engine. Learn more: https://support.google.com/programmable-search/answer/10146230"
I use Safari, but I have never gotten that error message before. I tried clearing a couple cookies, which caused me to log in again, and I still got the error message.

I have the same problem, regardless of the browser used. My work around is to do the search directly from the browser (NOT from this site) and it seems to work. For example, if looking for a London Broil recipe, my serach term is:
"Amazing Ribs + London Broil"
What causes these type of problems?
I mean, everything worked before and then suddenly things don't work.
So what changes?
I have never understood this.
The quick answer: Google Sux.
The system is basically just a Google search that only returns results from amazingribs.com. It is not free. There is a free version, but then you get ads in the search results.
It stops working because there is a limit on the number if times the search can be used. There are daily limits and per minute limits and per use limits. I requested an increase on these and Google denied the request.
Doing anything with Google products these days is a stupidly complex. Steps to set this up are:
Start
Create a project
Enable the search API
Link the search API to the project
Create credentials
Generate API key (do not restrict the key, they recommend this, but it just break everything)
then
Create a billing account
Link the billing account to the project.
then
Create and setup a search account on Google Search Console
Enter the API key.
then
Copy the code to the site.
And I am leaving out more than a few minor steps.
If you bungle any step, it fails to work.
I was going to show a screen shot of all the sections on the dashboard, but could not get it all on one screen. This is only Google Cloud and there are more than a few google systems, all overly complex.
