    My Posts Problem

Something that has bothered me for a long while: "My Posts" brings up topics I've posted to but not in order of the past post. Meaning, if I started or posted in a topic four months ago and post again recently the post does not move to the top of the list, I have to scroll back several pages to find the post; only new posts that I start or new posts that I reply to show up at the top of the list. I think that every time I post a new response to a topic it should show up at the top of the list when I click "My Posts"

Click "Filter" on the top right hand corner.
Then hit "all time" in the left column.

(You may also want to make sure that "All" is clicked under "Show" o the right side of the tab.

You can also change it on the main forum page. Click the tab shown below and select "Date- Last Update"

I've done all of that but I've recently posted or commented on the KBQ roll call thread and the Cajun Meat-up thread and they are not at the top on my "my Posts" feed. It seems to go by the date of the original post and not the date of replies.

I will see if I can figure this out. It should put your last reply at the top. I need to do some testing to verify this.

I tested by viewing My Posts before posting here. Then checked after posting. My last post was at the top.

I am wondering if this might be due to the age of the topic. You say the topic was from 4 month ago. I will have to test that as well. I will look over the settings to see if there is some cutoff for this.

Yep. There is a cutoff. Only topics from the last 3 days will get moved to the top of the list.

My test post in a topic from March.

Did not move to the top.

I can change the cutoff, but that can add extra load to the server. The recommend cut-off of a busy forum (more that 15 posts per hour) is 1 day. Pitmaster averages 20 posts per hour.

It is currently set to 3 days. Which for this forum is higher that suggested. I will try increasing that a little at a time to see if there is any noticeable effect.

Update. That was not it. The setting I found only effects the RSS feeds (which are disabled anyway). Back to the drawing board.

Thanks for looking into this. Also, why can't we edit the titles of our posts?

Posts do not have associated titles. Only the topic (first post) has a title field. You should be able to edit your own topic titles.

raywjohnson Sorry, I Meant topic. I just posted "Redbird BBQ Grand Opening" earlier today and misspelled Redbird - it will not let me edit the title.

Ok. That would be permissions issue. I think that is set on purpose. As changing the title effects the post URL as well. When that happens just post a request to fix it. The mods and admins can do that.

                      I fixed your topic title.

Alrighty then! Found the issue with the sorting.

The default sorting is not being applied. It should sort "last update" + "descending".

The workaround fix (for now) is the change the Order to "Ascending" then back to "Descending". That will force the sorting to be correctly applied.

I will see if I can fix it.

                      Seems to be fixed

                    Fixed!

This is javascript based so be sure to refresh you browser cache.

The proper sorting should then be applied and your recent post should now always show at the top of the list.
