Trouble embedding video - link appears instead

When I upload a vid to Youtube and try to embed it using the film clip icon, a link appears instead of the video itself being embedded. Here is an example:

When I tried embedding a five-minute Guy Clark song on Youtube yesterday, it too gave a link instead of the embedded player. Definitely not a short.

I just embedded a video and then tried embedding a short the same way, the short only provided a link. His link is a short. Hmmmmmmm.....

Just to clarify, on Laptop and Android mobile I can embed videos from YouTube, but Shorts only provide a link.

No sir, strictly Windows-based computers (home-built desktops and a Surface Pro laptablet). I never browse the web on a phone (and I'm an Android guy anyway).

Panhead John "Shorts" were introduced by Youtube not long ago as an attempt to compete with TikTok, which now pretty much rules the interwebs. I never use TT and never watch YT shorts either. Facebook introduced "Reels" for the same reason, and I avoid those for the same reason.

What if I shoot a video in landscape mode, instead of portrait/vertical, and it’s less than 60 seconds? Won’t it still embed?

I will see if I can fix this. The current video BBCode was created before there were shorts, so I guess it does not recognize the URL youtube/shorts/####

Might have to wait for vBulletin to update that as it is a built in BBCode.
