Dark Mode

A lot of apps and websites offer dark mode. Could that be an option for The Pit?

Why? Is it simple a matter of saving battery power (which I presume it must), some other reason (consistency?), or just to be trendy?

Agreed - I like dark mode in nearly everything. Bright white screens annoy me.

Back in 1984 Apple invented light mode! Before that computers had dark screen with white, green (high tech) or amber (oh so trendy) . or punch cards, lol.

Attjack - not an attack in any way: But keep in mind in 1984 most people using computers were doing so for work. So many were staring at the screen for 8 hours a day (yes, it is more than that now). The green screen was supposed to reduce eye strain, and of course the amber screen claimed it was better yet.

The most likely reason (IMHO) apple embraced light mode is the pioneering concept of "What you see is what you get" as far as page layout and work processing. Hence a white "page".

Maybe just change your display settings to dark mode? I'm using an Android phone, if that makes any difference.

Browser (DuckDuckGo) is set to dark but this is still white.

In case you're in your *phone's* appearance settings, try your browser's settings. If you already are in your browser's settings then I dunno.

For info. "Dark Mode" is just a theme set of Style sheets to display in different colors. In this case, darker colors.

I am a fan of dark mode. I could build a theme "Pitmaster AfterDark" and allow members to select that theme.

Or build a set of style sheets that honor the "dark mode" setting on browsers and devices.

I would need the boss ( Meathead ) to approve that effort. It could take more than a few hours to get it working right.

We can build it in but it will cost about $600 and I think we have more important things to do than this at the moment. Seems like another layer of complexity and the most common complaint we get is that the Club is too complex and confusing.
