@DogFaced PonySoldier
Doesnt work in comments
It's worked a couple of times, but mostly doesn't. I try to type the name exactly as it appears. The times it did work, I'm left scratching my head wondering what I did differently 🤷â€â™‚ï¸
Attjack
I got it here where I'm just posting a reply. First time seeing it.
As rickgregory mentioned, if i comment on a previous post, I don't see it...
Note, though, that you CAN get the @ in comments to work, you just need to type the username exactly. It doesn't change until you save the comment, so you can't tell if it worked until that point. Also, you cannot have a space between the @ and the name. So Finster works but @ finster will not
Most of the time I try to mention someone using @, it doesnt work for me.
whats the trick?
I can say for sure that sometimes it just doesn't seem to work - and yes, I mean in a reply, not comment, with proper spelling, etc. Not blaming the site - might be something on my side, but I can validate what Finster reported. Of course, this time it worked
In the comments, the @ (auto user link) will not work for names that contain spaces. They system only sees the first part: "Elton's" and not "Elton's BBQ". So if fails to auto-link.
And when you are posting normally (not a comment), sometimes the system is just slow. If you type the @ and then enter the first letter or letters, @rayw... then just wait for the list to popup and select the one you want.
As for comments, here is a trick. Use the new post editor to enter the @ + name, once select, just click the source icon, then copy the BBCode to the comment.
Be sure to click the source icon again to return to the GUI/WYSIWYG editor.
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
I've found that if you have a character right after a user name, sometimes it doesn't work - like an apostrophe or parenthesis), but if I keep a space after the username, it does.
Which works just fine if you first type out the entire comment (including "( Elton's BBQ )" without the "@" and with no characters "touching" the "E" or the "Q") ... then go back and add the "@" just before posting the comment.

Hey RayJ ( raywjohnson ) ... knowing you, you've already done this ... but if not, could you set up a few test user accounts and let folks know "who" they are so poor Elton ( Elton's BBQ ) won't be kept up at night by his phone buzzing every time someone wants to practice tagging users in messages and/or comments?
Something along the lines of testUser , Test User , test's User , test User's , etc.?
Edit: and I see you've already done so for test and Test User .
Edit 2: and a whole bunch of other test "users" ... all beginning with the word "test". Well done, sir!
