"Grill Envy" is now a thing

This story in the NY Post made me chuckle. Apparently people use social media to show off their outdoor cooking skills...
“Men tend to measure everything. Size does matter,” Ross Den, 38, tells The Post. No, not that. He’s talking about barbecuing. For years, Den, who works in security consulting, had been holed…

I can see that being true, every time I fire up the smoker I BBM/text the boys and let them know what I'm up to.
Everything from preparation to smoking to the result.
    Running commentary with pics.
Some replies are extremely complimentary....some are somewhat less than complimentary....but all in good fun.
    I hope.

I’ve got an Instagram account Jims_Grill that my daughter set up for me to post pictures of what I am cooking. Mostly it’s the same stuff I post here to the Show Us What You Are Cooking thread. And it copies to Facebook. I gained 50 or so followers in the past year on that. Lately i’ve been lazy and not even taken any pictures the past few cooks, even to post here. Guess I am over it...

FireMan actually my wife asked me to stop posting the cooks to Facebook (it's all I post to Facebook), as she felt bad everyone seeing all the fancy steaks and other stuff we are eating over here, when there are hungry people in the world, or something along those lines anyway.

Yeah, I remember when I was kid we always had to clean our plate cuz somebody was starving in China. I never was able to put that equation together. Ya just have to live with it.

My wife often takes pics of what I cook, but I seldom do.

LOL calling the BGEs the "Cadillacs of the BBQ world": they’re not even the Cadillac of kamados! More like the Toyota Camry. Otherwise a fun puff piece, I enjoyed reading it.

We have internet here! I thought I could just get a SIM card for my phone, but it turns out I had to unlock it before leaving the US. So now I have to pay ATT $10 a day. OTOH, everything is fast as all get out.

Mosca - Assuming it's eligible to be unlocked (according to AT&T's rules), you should be able unlock your phone online from your AT&T account page.

Catch: couldn't use my account login because I have 2 factor enabled, and I couldn't receive texts! I did it this way out of exasperation, but also it is a complete transfer of my unlimited texts/voice/data.

What kills me is grilling and smoking have been part of my cooking life for many, many years. Now all of a sudden everyone with a smoker is a bloody pitmaster and expert. I got guys running around the office talking about their brisket this and their pork butt that. I don't even mention AR or try to correct them, Millennial snobs.

Oh boy, my dad liked his meat well done and I do mean WELL.
Which meant the whole family ate charred hockey pucks, when you brushed your teeth you spit out charcoal.
Miss him, sure don't miss his grilling....
