Vitamina T: Your Daily Dose of Tacos, Tortas, Tamales, and More Mexican Street Food Classics

New cookbook from the folks at Masienda! I was up well past bedtime reading; there are some things I had no idea about, such as tlacoyos. Never heard of them until now, let alone tasted them.

This looks interesting. Thanks for posting. I really would like to expand my Mexican / Latin repertoire beyond the usual taco / enchilada / quesadilla routine that we currently do.

Tlayuditas are also awesome. A dear friend and former employee caters with these as the main attraction. So good!

Perhaps that will be the first thing to try when I get into the cookbook. Actually never heard of them so that will make it interesting. At least if I bomb I have nothing to compare it to!

Healthy food, a new health book. I'm all for it. Thanks.
with whole grain tortes, meat and veggies--balanced meal I would suggest.

Local indie bookstore had a copy, which I now have. Good book. I especially like the Glossary.
          SheilaAnn should get a commission.

I discovered tortas a few years ago and wished it would have been decades ago.

Do you happen to have the book “Tacos - Recipes and Provocations - A Cookbook” by Alex Stupak? Or anyone on that has picked up Vitamina T? Mosca or SheilaAnn

I should just buy Vitamina T so I can have both, but just curious if anyone can provide a comparison of the two. I know Vitamina T is more than tacos looking through a sample. Thanks all.

Thanks for posting this question. I’ve also been wondering about it.

I have both. The style is different. Provocations is more instructional, T is more conversational. Both function well as “idea mines”. T is more fun, but that might be my perception upon just having started it. I’ve had Provocations for a while.

Also recommended: Rick Martinez’ Salsa Daddy, and Salsas and Tacos, from Susan Curtis and The Santa Fe School of Cooking.

"Salsas and Tacos" is free if you subscribe to Kindle Unlimited. I’ve already downloaded it 😀.

Book will be delivered tomorrow morning. I enjoy the Alex Stupak book so much, and love that Fermin is also in so many episodes of the Taco Chronicles series on Netflix…this is one cookbook I will add to the collection!

Nice to be able to flip through this with my morning Capp!

Also - does everyone follow Masienda on YouTube? They have been posting a number of videos promoting the book. videos have been shorts, so quick intro type vids of various things in the book.

Just bought the Kindle version. Another book I really like is Rick Martînez Mi Cocina. The Kindle version is $5.99, highly recommended.

Ha! I don’t buy cookbooks much…only if it hits what I truly enjoy cooking. This may be another that I pick up. Let me know your thoughts on Mi Cocina compared to Vitamina T. It would be my third book in this category, which, isn’t a bad thing.

Mi Cocina isn't just about street food, it's kind of an overview of Mexican cooking organized by region. It's got molé recipes, Sonoran style carne asada, and a Kung Pao Pulpo recipe that's absolutely killer. I've barely gotten into Vitamin T, though.
