After I cooked my first rack of ribs like a pork chop…hot and fast and thought “That’s not good, I must have done something wrong”. Amazingribs came into my life!

I heard about it on another forum that I am a member of. I forget the context of the comment.
I originally came to the free side and found it really informative. I had a trial membership for about a week before pulling the trigger to join. I can’t imagine there being anyplace else in cyberspace where there is such a supportive and non judgmental community. The positivity found here is amazing. I truly feel that membership has not only made me a better cook, but even a better person as well. That’s the impact it’s had for me…

I found the site by trying to find methods for bbq and smoking that had a scientific foundation. The first thing that popped up was amazingribs.com. I was so intrigued by several pages on the free side I tested those methods with much better results than I ever had. I lurked for some time until one day I decided I needed to join. The membership was a pittance compared to the knowledge I’ve gained on this site. I never expected to win the monthly drawing either. Even if I hadn’t won 2nd place, the membership is gold.

Researching when looking to buy a pellet smoker and a MAK Two Star was one of my final choices and I found one of the reviews. I did end up buying a MAK Two Star SS.

I was looking for help smoking ribs on a Weber Smokey mountain I had bought. I knew nothing about smoking at all. I could grill but that’s not smoking. That was a very long time ago. I was Weekend Lynn at the time on the site. Life happened, I sold my business and started a new one, sent kids off to college, endured another divorce, and let my membership lapse. Fast forward to my 60 th birth day. I received a Kamado Joe Classic as a gift from my new wife. Good grief she’s a keeper from the first day! Any way I went looking for Amazing Ribs again and found it was alive and well. Bones was one of the very first to welcome and mentor me. I was privileged to get to know not only Bones but EdF and Dan the backyard cremator. I continue to learn so much and get to enjoy the company of all my friends. I treasure each and every one of you. If you ever get the chance make one of the meetups don’t pass up the chance to meet your friends in person.

I am a Charter Member (since 2014). I don't really know what that means. As far as I know, I didn't do anything to merit a special designation. And at my age, I can't really remember how I stumbled across this forum. But I like this site. I have learned a lot. Members are knowledgeable, generous with their time, and friendly. Let's keep it going and thanks to Meathead and his team!Last edited by briano52; March 14, 2026, 10:43 PM.

I was researching grills and smokers online and on YT. I had a gasser and decided on the Weber Kettle and the SnS. I bought the SnS first and it had an extended free membership, so I signed up. This was my first and only social media that I use. Great site and great people.

I originally wanted to learn how to make ribs. Then I found AR. I went through a few cooks and I got so sick and tired of the pop-ups that I almost swore this place off. (The Pit was not a thing yet) I did not visit the site for a few months. After I got my PBC, I needed more tips so I dove back in for recipes and techniques. I made the best ribs I ever had, so I figured I should give back. By that time, The Pit Master Club had opened up. I also knew I’d be diving way deeper into BBQ and I knew I couldn’t take the pop-ups, so Meathead wore me down and I joined! 😂
