For my digital cookbook, I use Pestle. I tried Paprika and liked the price, but Pestle, for me, had a better look and feel on my iPad, has handsfree capabilities, and syncs with my Apple reminders. It was really a toss up and I could be happy with Paprika as well.
I do have a collection of BBQ books that I have assembled, mostly from 2nd and Charles (cheep cheep) but I don’t get pure recipe books (since I get good recipes here and online) but prefer ones that have more science, technique, and BBQ philosophy/wisdom/history. I also get books on the spices, sauces, veggies, etc. but, again, focused more on understanding them and how to maximize flavor, suggested cooking techniques I might not have considered, and what mixes well with what. I like being a mad scientist in the kitchen.
