YES on peeling crawfish tails. Did a crawfish boil couple years ago. Invited friends, family, etc. 50 lbs of mud bugs. After 20 minutes, everyone was done eating (except my brother and I). Too much work for my kids and since nobody grew up on bug boils, nobody really wanted to eat them. My brother and I ended up peeling like 30 lbs of crawfish. Thank goodness I had learned my lesson before. Taped up my fingers and got to work. Still a bit painful and took us about 1.5 hours.

Pretty interesting. Crawfish aren’t a big thing up here at all though. I can’t say that I have ever seen them for sale anywhere. Oh I’m sure they’re available somewhere. Frozen for sure.
Can you imagine peeling the things all day, every day, for over 15 years like that woman in the video? Geez. And not making much money. If I recall correctly, they get $2.50/lb. She can do around 40 pounds in a day. That’s $100/day. Tough living.

Sorry, brother, I used your allotted video time watching the Costco one. I really liked that one, though.
When I was a young man us young men would snorkle-dive our local rivers to hand harvest mudbugs. It was great fun with a fun crawfish boil that evening.
Please let me know if peeled crawdads are some kind of panacea and I'll check it out.Last edited by CaptainMike; April 6, 2025, 08:34 PM.
