Q: Does Seltzer’s need to be refrigerated?

A: Seltzer’s Lebanon Bologna is a Keep Refrigerated item. With that said – Seltzer’s has had feedback from years of customer interaction in which customers purchase Seltzer’s in a sealed package and then send that sealed package to friends or relatives in other areas of the country and even to people serving overseas. These customers have reported that because Seltzer’s is smoked and cured the way it is, it travels fine through this type of delivery.

        (Cont’d)

According to our customers, the recipient simply needs to refrigerate the product sometime before consumption. The official position of Seltzer’s is that our Lebanon Bologna is a Keep Refrigerated item and should be treated as such.

Oh geez. Bologna is one of my favorite deli type meats. I had not heard of the brand before. I’m a bit embarrassed being a ‘loney lover and all. 🤦‍♂️

      I’m ordering some immediately!!

      EDIT:
went to their website to place an order. $34 for the product. $45 for the shipping!!
Nope. Don’t love bologna THAT much.
I’ll need to look around locally to see if I can find it. 🤷‍♂️

Who knows, maybe we’ll match on SS! I can just walk over to Carone’s Market.

I love this stuff. I had no idea what it was when I was growing up in South Florida, but discovered it when I moved to Virginia.

      Thanks for posting the video!

Agreed. I noticed on the Setzler’s site that the offer extra thick cut slices they call Dutch Grillers for fried bologna sandwiches. Yum.

This doesn’t taste like bologna, though. It’s REALLY smoky, and in addition to being cured, it’s fermented. It’s more like summer sausage. (Don’t ask me how they do it, I’m just passing along the info.)

Mosca some type of summer sausage was my first thought when I saw the slices.

When I lived in Reading I came to really really love Lebanon Bologna. And ring bologna. Hippy's. The war between Hippy's and Berks was real.

I can get Seltzer’s regular and sweet Lebanon Bologna at my local grocery store. It’s so good to just snack on with a really good cheese.

In my opinion it does not make a great fried bologna sandwich. I love to use Boar’s Head Garlic Bologna for fried bologna sandwiches.

It’s better when you use a little less, and pair it with cheese. See below.

$8.99/lb in the deli, $9.49/lb packaged. Honestly it’s so deeply smoked and boldly flavored that it’s hard to get through a pound of it in a timely manner. I bought the pack, I didn’t know they had it behind the counter!

Looking at the bottom of the above picture, I see they have Sahlen’s Bologna. That stuff is really good also. Sahlen’s also makes one of my favorite hot dogs of all time.

One of my favorite sandwiches - fried balogna with an over easy fried egg - and catchup!

I might do a fried Lebanon bologna with scrambled eggs and melted cheese sandwich for dinner. On a Martin’s potato roll. Or maybe as a taco for breakfast tomorrow, I don’t know.

Seltzers bologna is great. I’m with the fella who says their double smoked is the best.
