What never made sense to me, let the MLB app, Sunday Ticket etc stream the broadcast of whatever company has the local market and give the ratings to them but let the hosting service get X number of commercials of their own for revenue for those games.
I get blacked out most often on MLB stuff where the Giants are playing someone here on the East Coast but I don't even have access to whatever channel the game is on.
With the NFL the Paramount/Apple/etc games shouldn't be blacked out if I pay 300+ for NFL Sunday Ticket. At least the MLB package can be bought ala carte and is actually a reasonable price.
This doesn't seem to address Youtube TVs charges, but at least I can get it, I couldn't get Dish because I didn't want a satellite on my house. Also looks like this could drag on for a few years.

Yeah the Brewers/Twins game today was only on Roku streaming service. You need a subscription AND their hardware to access. Nope. I will give up all live sports before I will do that. I’m not a happy MLB fan I’ll tell you that!
Oh. The Brewers won today. 8-7 in a nail biter. Go Brewers!!Last edited by Jfrosty27; July 22, 2024, 06:53 AM.

We have the MLB package and watch on AppleTV. We’re less than an hour from Anaheim, so Angels games are blacked out - as are Dodgers, but not Padres, who are closer to me than LA.
What pisses me off is that road games are blacked out too. I get the local blackout…fill the stadium. But I’m not making the drive to Cleveland when we play the Guardians!

Are they a part of the Bally Sports Network?. Not that I want to watch the Rockies, but we can't get them even on the MLB package without paying extra. Part of the deal was they have with the Rockies is they are only available on cable TV that carries BSN, which we don't have cable service. I am hoping the BSN bankruptcy will get that issue resolved, but I am still waiting..

Grills:
Weber 22" Kettle Premium w/Slow N' Sear 2.0
Pit Barrel Cooker
Grilla Grills Chimp
W.C. Bradley & Co. Char Kettle CK-115 ~1980s Vintage Grill (inactive)
Back in the mid 1980s all Astros away games were on local Channel 20 (UHF). Home games were on the cable channel Home Sports Entertainment, which was a premium channel, and this scrambled.
I remember trying to tune into the scrambled channel....I don't think I had audio and you could just barely make out the outline of the batter and pitcher. But hey, when I was 8-9 years old I was obsessed with the Astros so I would try to watch that horrible picture.

Masterbuilt 20070910 Electric Digital Smoker
Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker 22"
ThermoWorks Smoke thermometer
Radio broadcasts used to cover those local blackouts, or the times when one couldn't get their favorite team due to regional boundaries.
It didn't provide video obviously, but it offered coverage which could be enjoyed while working around the house, garage, or sitting in a field drinking beer with friends.
