2021 Yoder YS640 still operates well

My yellow competition cart Yoder YS640 was delivered on my 75th birthday. Have had many successful cooks as well as a few "memorable" ones. Strongly suggest a very thorough annual cleaning back to the bare metal inside. Then the temperature gear works properly.

Have had learning challenges, but have decided I will not ever try and cook for a small army of relatives again. Tried rib racks once. Not my idea of fun.

So on my YS640, I can place five racks flat on the first level and three flat on the second story with one rack cut in half. Much better overall control of the operation.

I have given a compete YS640 system with all accessories to my oldest son and one to one of my four step daughters. They are happy campers. My son is making bacon that he distributes to friends.

The picture was taken early morning on November 28, 2024 as a brisket was cooking as our contribution to the big family dinner across town with multiple turkeys. Not everyone likes turkey....

Mine is a 2017 and I've had no issues and many great cooks. I did install the updated controller a few years back. No.issues with the auger either. Even at extremely low temperatures in the winter and no blanket it just cranks through. I consider myself a heavy user too.

2017 here. Still going strong too and I expect many more years to come. In fact it is bequeathed in my will to one of my kids.

2016 here. I upgraded to the ceramic lighter and installed the wireless upgrade. SOMETHING in my controller crapped out once, necessitating replacing "either a fan or the starter or the board, we will have to walk you through it" so I decided to skip the repairs and upgrade. I like that comp cart but haven't moved it once in a decade. Maybe if I had the comp cart? Since I bought the KBQ it sees much less use. Oh, and the paint has been shot for years.
