I don't have that cooker but do have a LSG pellet now and had a Rec Teq for 8 years. Both run best when starting with a clean firepot. Something I do on all my outside cookers is to rub them down with food grade mineral about every 8 weeks. Really keeps everything looking like new and keeps the small nicks and such from getting larger. This is a pic of my 8 year old Rec Teq before I sold it and it was never repainted, the mineral oil does work.
