The Traeger has a cold start mode.
I don't mind cooking when it's cold, freezing, and dry outside. But I don't want to track the weather into the apartment.

I just wear my plastic-soled slippers or my sandals outside, but these might be what I will graduate to.

    Traeger's in the snow.
    Traeger's in the snow.
    Inside this house I'm stuck
    Smoking's out, oh shucks
Like a filet with a bone
    or tea without scone
    Traeger's in the snow.

Makes about as much sense as the Riders on the Storm lyrics do.

Hey as long as you have a toque on your good. It's amazing how much heat loss we suffer through the head. Seriously though I normally draw the line in the snow at around -5 Fahrenheit. Mostly as I get a little cold if I'm out there too long in those temps the cookers don't seem to mind. Propane can be a little strange to work with at those temps so I tend to use the Weber Kettle or the Pellet grill.

Pellet guys usually stay inside when the weather is tough........the rest of us keep on smoking.

Of course us pellet guys stay inside. Only have to go outside for a few moments, to fuel, start, and load rig. Can do that in 5 or less; let the dish get early smoke until reaches set temperature.

Seriously, best thing I ever did was to get a covered deck. Get some snow sometimes, but not bad. Usually not much wind here.

I haven't used any of my outdoor cookers in the last few days due to an ongoing illness and just not feeling like it. I have used my breakfast sandwich maker though, I have cooked, eggs, expensive expensive eggs.

Here's the result of Wednesday's snow, and we're supposed to get even more tonight. Visible is the 26" kettle, The SnS Kamado, the Yoder stickburner, almost visible is the SnS Travel Kettle, and in the forefront the Traeger Flatrock. So this still fits the title of this topic, "Traeger in the snow".

I wish we could get some snow like this. It either slides north of us or south of us. We've had this dry pattern over us for like 2 months now.

Spinaker I know how you feel. We are usually the same. Last several winters we'd often get nothing, then when it snowed we'd get 2-4" then it warms up to 43 the next day, becomes melty mud, then that freezes and it's muddy ice for a week, cold hard and brown everywhere. Repeat repeat. We finally have snow and lingering cold to keep it there so it looks like winter.
