I am looking for a new pellet grill and I am leaning toward a Rec Tec grill. I was wondering how people change pellets in the rec tec since I dont see any hopper pellet dump in any of there models. Even if you dont change flavor pellets you wouldnt want to leave them in the hopper for any length of time if you keep it out outside.

Living in California I don't see the humidity that some of you do. I have had my Yoder for almost a year and leave the pellets in all the time. We’ve had a very wet winter and I’ve not had any problems.
When I want to change the type of pellets I’m using, I scoop them out down to the auger and then add the new pellets figuring the old flavor will be used up by the time it is warmed up and ready to cook.

Home Depot sells a cheap vacuum head that fits onto one of their orange buckets. Called, of course, The Bucket Head vac. Costs about $18. Vacs out your hopper in minutes.

Leaving pellets in the hopper is a recipe for disaster regardless of where you live. Unless you do not mind a froze up augger. If you do not have a discharge chute to remove unused pellets I would scoop out what you can and let the rest get used up by letting the grill cook until the pellets are used up.
