I'm looking to replace my CC Woodwind with a new pellet grill and the Recteq Deck Boss 800 caught my eye. I'll just be cooking for me. Anybody have any experience with the 800 that you'd care to share?

I just discovered that none of the Recteq products come with a pellet dump function other than scooping or vacuuming out the pellets from the hopper. For me, that would be unacceptable. I need to have a quick dump function. I guess I'll have to consider another brand that incorporates a pellet dump into its design.

I am with Jfrosty27 on this one. I have not owned a pellet cooker quite as long but close. Not one time have I dumped the pellets. I think the reason is that I do not see beans worth of difference between apple, hickory, pecan, etc when it comes to cooking pellets and flavor.

If you live in a wet environment and leave the grill outdoors all year long and don't cook with it for 6 months in the winter, the pellets can absorb moisture and eventually become a cemented, solid block of wood and your auger a/o hopper are toast. Ask me how I know. I need to dump the hopper and empty the auger tube in the fall. Or find indoor storage. So for now, I'm looking for a grill WITH a dump capability. Thank you very much. 😁

I did some further looking and found some really good information on the Pit Boss 6 Series Pro Elite 1529-Sq. in Stainless Steel Pellet Smoker. I posted up some things about it on the Pit Boss forum and I'm looking for some thoughts on it over there.
