    Pit Boss 6 Series Pro Elite in Stainless Steel

    This looks to be a killer smoking tool for meats AND fish. I'm replacing my CC Woodwind 24 after 5 seasons and have missed the convenience of multiple racks for doing smoked salmon and trout. I do a lot of fishing and catch LOTS of kokanee salmon and mostly rainbow trout with a few Lake Trout pups thrown in for good measure. I'm also partial to ribs (beef & pork), pulled pork, and of course, brisket. And doing an occasional pastrami is good for the soul as well.

    I don't see any references here to this specific model, so I'm reaching out to any members that may have some first hand knowledge or experience with the Pit Boss 6 Series Pro Elite 1529-Sq. in Stainless Steel Pellet Smoker. It appears to be specific to Lowes, so getting one is easy (5 miles to my nearest Lowes). Plus, I get a 10% military discount there. And free assembly is available for this item; us OLD farts can use all the help we can get.

    If you have any thoughts you'd like to share with me, much obliged.

    There are a number of folks on here with vertical cookers from PitBoss. Never heard anything bad. I am sure you are going to get some thoughts. Good Luck!

      Well, it is now a done deal. I bought the Pro Series 6 yesterday. I went to one of my local Lowes to check it out in person. They had one display model in the store. It was marked down from $1,000 to $600. The Lawn & Garden manager saw there were some very minor scuff marks on the outside of the cabinet and dropped the price down to $500. SOLD!

      I loaded it in the back of my pickup laying on the back (handle side) and the handle broke in transit. OOPS! I'll get one ordered shortly. I will also order a cover for the Series 6 and 2 meat probes. Let the good times role. 🥰

        My gorgeous gasser was obtained the same way. Some $600+ OG price. After talking to the floor manager for a while, I was out the door with the exceptional floor model for $1-fiddy!

      My cover & meat probes came yesterday and the new handle will be delivered next Wednesday. I did the set up and downloaded the controller update software yesterday as well as complete the burn in. No errors occurred. I set the temp to 375 and ran it for about 40 minutes after it reached that temp. I'm thinking baby backs should be a good first cook. After I find some Teflon mats, I have a bunch of kokanee salmon filets that need to be attended to for Christmas gifts for the neighbors.

        Wow, you really got a good deal on that Pit Boss. The folks on your Xmas list must be eager for you to get rolling with it.

          It is now christened. I smoked some kokanee salmon filets today. I used a Traeger recipe. Dry bine with brown sugar & course salt. Dry rub of brown sugar, smoked paprika, onion & garlic powder, and black pepper. Smoked for 2 hours at 130*F and 4 hours at 140*F. It was at 144*F when I pulled it. Grill temp never varied more than about +/- 5*F. The grill and the app worked as advertised. It dropped the connection between phone and grill a couple of times, but came right back up when refreshed. No error codes. Life is good. Here are the before & after pics.

          And the non-stick aluminum foil worked great.

            I will shorten the dry brine time on the next batch. This batch was brined for a little more than 4 hours. Next time I will shorten that to 2 hours. This batch tasted good, but was just a tad more saltier than I like.
