The BK Smoke XL Pro should be delivered and setup within a day or so, but one question I keep getting asked by my family is whether you can use copper grill mats in a pellet grill? I bought my mother a set of 2 mats last year which she currently uses on the Napoleon Ultra Chef that we've had for years. I'm wondering if a copper grill mat would effect the air flow inside the cooking chamber because the air blows up from under the grates if I'm not mistaken.

If you use the mesh style mats, sometimes referred to as "frog mats", airflow shouldn't be disrupted if mats have any effect at all.

I don't use the copper mats but the teflon coated one called PhatMats (very similar to Frogmats). I actually swear by them for seafood and skewers or really anything that tends to stick on a grill grate. Nothing, I mean nothing sticks to these things. Another plus I've noticed is the fine mesh disperses the heat which in effect helps with even cooking. I know some folks don't like the idea of cooking on "plastic" but I swear by them for my more delicate foods.
And to your question, no problem cooking on a pellet grill with them, or any grill or smoker for that matter. The only precaution is they can't be over open flames, for obvious reasons.

Thanks everyone. I figured you could use them. I'm not sure what mine are called because they were purchased from a coupon site up here called WagJag. I think they were like $26 CAD and I got them for $16 CAD for a set of 2. They seem to be easy to clean so maybe they are similar to FrogMats.
