Black Friday deals, what's the best?

    Hello everyone,

So far the following pellet grills are on sale; which do you think is the best deal/best bet?
    1. Grilla - Original Silverbac $599 + 2 bags of pellets
    2. Green Mountain Grills – Daniel Boone $400 (no-wifi), $500 (wifi)
    3. Camp Chef – Woodwind SG with Searbox or Sidekick $900
    4. Pellet Grill Pro – Model 440 $599.99, Model 680 $699.99, Model 770 Deluxe $774.99, Model 1190 Deluxe $849.99

And to compare it to my deal (just wondering because I might return it for one of the ones above) – Camp Chef ZG $400.00

I have not heard much about the Pellet Grill Pro’s either.

The problem is some of your grills aren't comparable really. Never heard of PGP but from what research I had done before making my purchase was that quality wise (from what I was finding on various forums) you have the first 3 kind of in order, but I think I would put the Camp Chef over the GMG for overall value since you have the included searbox (assuming you need that, which with most pellet grills you do need grill grates and or a second high heat grill). Grilla and Camp Chef seem to both have a great following touting the quality of the customer service though I saw much less problems with the Grilla.

Depends on what you already have I guess. Whatever you choose I'm sure you'll enjoy it for as long as it lasts. At least the first 3 all have loads of happy customers according to the web.

Is BF the best time of year to buy a pooper, or any other grill?

yes and no, it seems most of the top end grills and suppliers rarely do discounts. If you are lucky they do add ons. But the mid-range and low end stuff tend to do a lot of specials this time of year. Definitely a good time of year of pick up on accessories, spices, and fuel though... assuming each year is the same of course, ya never know.

Apparently first time grilla ever has done a sale

I think the usual price for the camp chef woodwind is $899.

sure is, regardless of side attachment. Dunno why I didn't catch that since that was the first grill I was researching the most only a few months ago.

Woodwind SG is the one on sale

FlipprDolphin I don’t have a pellet grill, but a neighbor does. It’s an older Camp Chef, made to go up against Treager. I think the temp controller is the main difference, it adjust in 25 degree jumps. Anyhow he likes it. Hasn’t replaced it yet anyway. And it gets a fair amount of use. With that sidekick attachment I think that would be nice. Not the sear box, but the sidekick. Hadn’t seen that product before.

Dont get me started on how horrible BF is on retail employees. As a former big box style retail store manager, it is terrible. I personally, refuse to help prolificate that behavior. They should be able to stay at home with their families after Thanksgiving, not eat and then dash up to the brick and morter to set up for a day of customers treating them like cimplete dirt. Thats all I have to say about that.

JGo37 is right. I work for an online retailer and in many ways Black Friday is pretty much the same as most other days. Just bigger numbers to deal with. So stay home, eat leftovers, and shop online.

Of those 3, the one I would lean towards most would be the Grilla Silverbac, mostly as I've never heard anyone say anything bad about them. The recent issues a few have reported here with the SG (Slide and Grill) version of the Campchef pellet poopers would lead me to stay with the non-SG version of theirs. Green Mountain is good, and most economical, but I also seem to hear of more issues with them than the Campchef or Grilla units. Good thing is that GMG seems good as far as providing support and warranty parts.

I would stay away from an off brand like the Pellet Pro, just due to concerns with future parts and service.

Yup I'm the one who posted about my annoying slide and grill. I actually made burgers first time on it and slide it open to release the flames.... big fire on the tray from the grease that dripped in it. Burned a burger or two. I think I'm going to return it for the silverbac. I like the insulation from cold/wind. Santa fe, NM gets that weather

The Grilla deal is pretty good, not great. But I think it's likely the best pellet among those.

+1 for the Grilla Silverbac Original being a very good choice. Also, you'll find that their customer service is second to none.

Given that list I’ll pile on with everyone else - Grilla Silverback.

Your response is too late. I took other people's advice, and my own, and ordered a silverbac already.

Grilla doesn’t run deals usually. The Only reason Grilla is on the list is because they have an upgraded Silverbac that came out earlier this year so they can run a special to move the old ones (kind of like car dealerships discounting 18s to make room for 19s).

Silverbac would definitely be my choice. In fact I’m considering this one myself.
