Good gosh this is like buying a new car. I own a Ford, no I like a Chevy, no you can’t go wrong with a Toyota, but then there’s the Hyundai or the Volvo or ..... it’s just too overwhelming, I’m confused

I have a much easier time selecting cars, but then I lease and get a new one every three years. Maybe they should lease grills
I've looked at a couple of similar posts but thought I'd ask for myself. Nothing more than 1K, preferably less. Don't need anything large, it's just my wife and I, kids grown and out of the house. Looking closely at camp chef smokepro SG. Pros; pellet and ash clean out system, dual probes, not too large for my space. Daniel Boone green mountain, on sale with Wi-Fi for $684, digital controller with 5 degree increments. Rec Tec Trailblazer, dual probes, Wi fi, temp. Control, very popular company, maybe a little smaller than I was looking at but can add an additional shelf. Grilla silverback, gets a lot of positives on this site but may be large for my space and needs.
Decided to buy the Rec Tec 340 Trailblazer. The smaller size just works for me (this'll be 3 BBQ's in the yard), construction material seems solid, like the smart grill technology, WI FI, dual probes. Really comes down to choosing between a Ford, Chevy, or Dodge. Unfortunately I can't afford a Mercedes.
I think you'll be very happy with this choice. BTW, the accessories i really like are the bottom shelf (really does stabilize everything and looks cool too). The custom fit grill cover is really high quality, thick, perfect fit, and can be clipped to the bottom to protect from wind.
Great! You'll like the pellets. I also have your other three accessories and they all are perfect. Looking forward to hearing your reviews and seeing what 's cooking.
I have no experience with the other models mentioned above, but I have a lot of experience with GMG. I considered going with the GMG Daniel Boone at about $680, but I ended up going with two Davey Crockets for the same price and I am really glad I did. I have a lot more versatility and if I am cooking a smaller quantity, I can use just one. The temp control (5°F increments, 150°- 550°F) and pellet usage are excellent. The amount of smoke they produce is pretty amazing. You can also take them with you because they will operate off of a 12V car, RV or marine battery and they have a very small footprint. They are pretty easy to clean out (takes about 5 minutes in "I'm in no hurry" mode), but I do wish they had an easier pellet change out. As far as Wifi, I never use it on the DCs, but I do use it to monitor my pellet quantity on the Jim Bowie. As Far as searing, the DC has a sliding plate that exposes the direct flame, which is great for some things, but it's not really searing. when I want a real sear I use a charcoal chimney for a single steak or a couple of burgers or, for bigger items or larger quantities, I use my SNS. Hope this helps.
