A question for Pellet Grill users...

    Hiys folks!
I have been trying different brands of pellets in my Traeger lately... Just to check out how well they work and what is the best bang for my buck. My question is...
what is your favorite brand of pellets and why?

Any and all info is very much appreciated!

When I had a pellet Cooker I was an avid fan of BBQr’s Delight. I felt like I got a consistent quality product that provided a consistent fire and burn. Never had a burnout with them.

That being said if I was out WalMart carried B&B at the time and I would grab those in a pinch. They may have been made by BBQr’s Delight if I remember correctly. CandySueQ could probably answer that. My local WalMarts now carry PitBoss starting this year which I probably wouldn’t use because I believe they are Alder based (like traeger). I’m not a fan of alder based or traeger pellets for that matter.

Probably by the end of the month I will have me a new pellet Cooker and will probably give Lumberjack and CookinPellets a try since I have heard good things but will probably end up being a BBQr’s Delight loyalist.

Ahh yes. Well that spoils the surprise then. But cool! Make sure you visit New Holland Brewery and try their offerings and/or do the tour, it's a great deal. Never done the tour myself, but I want to. But their beers are great.

Huskee maybe but I didn’t tell you which model lol.... Wife and I are going to try to make a little road trip out if it. I spent some time on the phone with Mark Graham, their engineering manager, about it the other day. Awesome service!

I didn't realize they had a kamado. Great prices!

I use B&B mainly because my local grocery store (HEBs in central texas) carries them. Great price too.. I think they work fine. I've never had them gum up my augers, or produce too much ash, and they work well in a smoke tube for me.

Been limited to Traeger which seems to be the best bang for the dollar here I liked cherry

Cookin Pellets on Amazon, or Lumberjack. Good consistent heat and low ash...I also use a separate smoker box to amp up the smoke flavor to go with the protein.

Rural king sells Lumberjack for $9 a twenty pound bag and no filler wood used.

B & B is made by BBQr's Delight and that is what I use. Great results and feedback.

Thanks for the heads up! One of the facilities I run has an Academy in that town so I may have to look.

I have bought the pit boss pellets for Costco on line and found them pretty good (40$ For 40lb a bag shipped ) Also the store up in Truro I was telling you about did have the bbq delight at one time ( not sure if they still do or not)

We don't seem to have a lot of options around here, do we? I saw Canadian Tire has a brand called Lousiana Grills... $20 for 20lbs. No idea if they are any good though. I got some pitboss from Home Depot's site.

Pit Boss and Louisiana Grills pellets are the same. The grills are made by the same company.

I have been using CookingPellets and have had good results. I am getting ready to try BBQ Delight just for more control over what mix of wood I want to smoke with.

I use B&B pellets. HEB has them at a great price, Academy has them as well. I really like the mesquite for brisket. I use apple for ribs, and cherry for chicken. I have used Pit Boss competition blend with good results has well.

I really like the B&B pellets.

I was just having some auger jams on my green mountain and when I called they said dont use Bear Mountain, Pit Boss or Lumberjack. I have had really good luck with Green mountain brand (cheaper than Traeger too) and Gourmet bbq (my favorite) which are very inexpensive at my local sporting goods store.

Interesting. I use Lumberjack on my GMG (it's available locally) and I've had no problems. But I "drain" my hopper between each cook and keep my pellets sealed up.

New to pellet, but BBQer’s Delight is the jam so far. All killer, no filler, thin long pellets, good smoke.

Jam, with pellets, isn't a good thing!

I've been happy with Camp Chef and use them most often. I've tried a few bags of Traeger and had inconsistent performance with some bags having more temperature fluctuation and flame outs.

I use either smoke ring pellets or smokin brothers wood pellets, both are no filler or base wood pellets.
