Nice way to cover all the bases, David0205 , getting the wife on board before the delivery guy shows up.

        Enjoy that new toy.

David0205 you will love the Woodwind. A buddy of mine down in Florida recently got one, loves it, and found using it so convenient that he decided to sell his Kamado Joe, and downsize to just the one grill/smoker. He's been cooking a bit of everything on it, and been very pleased with the performance.

I like how you roll. Order it, then ask for permission to buy it. Congrats! I was eyeing that model as well. It definitely looks to me like THE pellet grill to have if you want one device to do it all.

welcome , from NJ. Curious to hear about how you think the camp chef will perform in winter/fall

Down hear in San Antonio, Texas i doubt that will be a problem. Up there in NJ maybe another story.

So yesterday at work I pulled the trigger and ordered a new Camp Chef Woodwind Grill. I went home then and asked the wife if I could get me a new grill for Fathers Day as I've been without a pit for about a year after the old gasser died.
THAT was an excellent strategy. I wholly approve!

I love this! This is how it went down when I bought my first two cars after my wife and I got married.

Actually, Mudkat, this wasn't Father's Day and it was before kids, so we could just do whatever we wanted within reason. That would not fly today!

I bought a few cars "before" I got hitched just so I could say "hey, I have fewer cars now than when we got married so........."

Ok I received my Woodwind Pellet Grill and so far I love it. Did my 1st cook of a Brisket for Fathers Day last Sunday. I told my wife she was brave wanting me to do 1st brisket for a Fathers Day but said I'd do it. Anyway it turned out pretty good. Everyone liked it, it was juicy and tender. I didn't get the exact bark I was hoping for but it was pretty good. I ran the temp at about 225. I wrapped it at about 160 internal (4 hours in) then cooked another 5 hours and took out at about 203 internal temp and into cambro for a few hours. All in all I was real happy. I used Hickory Pellets and thought it could use a bit more smoke. Here is a pic of the Pit and a pic of the Brisket.

Gonna do some Baby Back Ribs this weekend.

did you smoke it on " high smoke" or 225? I know high smoke is supposed to be 225 with more smoke, just wondering

I did it on High Smoke. Not sure if there is a difference on the smoke on High Smoke which it is still 225 or the setting of 225. Those are 2 different settings. Anyone know the answer to that?

That brisket looks pretty good! So does the grill. It is a great solution if you only have one grill.

Welcome, Good looking pellet grill, Brisket Looking good man, You will love it, however if you have been sneaking around here for a couple years you already know you will not get the kinda smoke as a pit. If ya want to increase your smoke, get a smoke tube, there inexpensive enough you will not have get her blessing. Next time you have some extra room on there try some bacon, off to the side, a half pound will be a good test.
