If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
The coolest thing on the original Grilla, beyond its unique shape, is that glass with the fire pot and flames visible. I’m curious to hear about capacity after you use it for a while. I keep thinking I would want the Silberbac for capacity, or a Rectec, but neither has the cool flames visible! If it’s a 22†grate, with a diffuser plate making the entire grate useful for smoking, it will hold a lot, certainly more than my kettle with SNS.
A few OG enthusiasts post with the hashtag #TopShelfMagic, so, I think it might have a good bit more smoking capacity than a kettle, but I'll keep the Pit posted.
This page is helpful for me as I try to determine how much grill I need.Tells you what will fit, with and without the optional extensions. The reality is, at least 95% of the time the Grilla would be plenty. https://grillagrills.com/pellet-gril...ze-comparison/
Good point Potkettleblack. I forgot it had an upper shelf. Looking at the Grilla website they sell a rack extension for the upper rack, taking you up to 630 sq inches of grate space, which is a lot. That might be good for flat things on both levels, like ribs or spatchcocked chickens, or even brisket.

Congratulations Potkettleblack on the addition to your arsenal. I have used the CandySueQ Pecan/Cherry Mix--I think you will like it. Glad you are now a Pellethead with several of us on the AR Site. Looking forward to your future Pellet Posts. I so much enjoy your SV Posts.
Yeah. There’s no "gas tribe" anywhere, because so many have em for quick things, and the sous vide tribe is growing, but it’s clearly not a pit. Now I’ve joined one of the real tribes. Couple years, I’ll be a real pitmaster.
Congrats and welcome to the PelletHead club! Thanks for sharing the unboxing/installation story. The new addition should make for easier SVQ, QVQ, etc. adventures. I look forward to hearing about them.
For pellet storage, I've found that using a Gamma2 air/water tight storage container works great to keep the pellets dry and fresh no matter the weather (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002H3S5K/). I got a bigger container so I could mix two bags of pellets together to easily make and my own custom blend (usually mesquite and cherry). Also, if you use a smoking tube, this type of container makes it easy to fill the tube without wrestling with a bag.
I got the petfood container recommended by Meathead. The 50 lbs box easily contained two 20 lbs bags of pellets and I think I could get a third in there. That Gamma2 looks nice, tho. Maybe if this fails, though I'm gonna find a cover for it maybe this weekend.
I actually use a trash can to keep pellets and charcoal dry with my newspaper. I have one that has handles that keep the lid on. Has worked well as I can store other grill equipment in there too. Enjoy the toy!

You've got some great cooks ahead with that new Grilla, Potkettleblack . Enjoy every single one of them!
I enjoyed reading the story of the delivery and installation. Where there's a will, there's a way. I imagine some of your neighbors coming down that Grilla-inhabited stairwell while it was temporarily lodged there scratched their heads, trying to figure out what it was.
The renter under us, who named her kid Time, did some head scratching. I feel a bit bad, as they have a kettle, which I told their landlords about, which now lives on the parking lot, instead of their deck. I dunno about their lease, but there's nothing really in the rules disallowing it. On the flip side, no mat, wood deck... bad idea.
By head scratching, Potkettleblack , I meant that they were probably wondering what the heck that big gizmo was.
Have fun setting your new cook station to work best with the grill and smoker. Post a picture when done, because I'm sure you'll land on the perfect solution.

Potkettleblack how about something like this in between the two grills? It would serve as storage and a prep table. Not sure that it will hold an LP bottle though.
This is your standard resin based outdoor stuff, I've had a Keter patio box for several years (bought at Sam's Club) that has held up and not faded. Sam's club has the XL table for about $50 LESS than Amazon too.
I think that the Keter, especially the XL model, may in fact fit the spare propane tank. The size of a propane tank is 18" high by 12.25" diameter, and the table depth is 20.4" on the large one, and 22" on the small one.
Yeah, the XL probably doesn't fit so well, though. I might have room to move on storing the tank, though. The pellets, I'd like their container covered. Wife would like them outside.
Looks like if you can find somewhere for the tank, the smaller one has these dimensions for the sealed storage space: 20.6" L X 16.3" W x 18.5" H. I would think that would fit a number of 20# bags of pellets. The stainless top is 24"W x 20.5" deep, which is a decent size workspace.
