Well I can only speak for one unit - the 700, as it's what I own. The 680 and 700 are identical in this regard and the 680 is discontinued. I don't know what the yoders are like but I can say that while my 700 can really output good volumes of smoke, the smoke flavor in the meat is subtle. I'd imagine any pellet smoker will be that way and you'll have to augment with a smoke tube.
I'm not sure exactly why pellet smokers don't produce a stronger flavor but I think its because they burn so clean and completely whereas other cookers have more smoldering going on at various stages of their burn.

I don't have a yoder or a rec tec. I went with a Blazin Grill Works which produces subtle smoke flavor as well. I did go ahead and add an extra smoker box that I use with it as well. Especially on meats. I agree with GoDuke, I think they all typically burn cleaner and have a less intense smoke flavor.

I think Rec tec and Yoder both make a fantastic smoker. I own a YS640 and find the smoke flavor to be heavier than any other I have tasted from. I am not clear on why that is and I am not a Yoder fan boy (I am a Weber fan boy lol). I would say whatever you can ship cheaper would be a good choice.

I have an older Traeger from back when they built them out of rolled steel and wouldn't trade it for anything. With that said, I've cooked on GMG's and a Rec Tec as well and would buy a RT if I were shopping for one.
