Burn time on a Yoder 640

For those of you with a yoder 640, what is the average length of time a hopper full of pellets will last? I know there are several variables that may impact this, but let's assume it's a nice 70 - 80 F day and the cook is low and slow (225).

I don't have a Yoder, have a Pellet Pro, but I believe they run similar. I have a 30# bin and run about 1#/hour cooking on average 250* or so. Of course cooking high temp (above 300*) or low temp smoke (below 200*) will increase or decrease that accordingly. Bottom line, I have done long 12 hour cooks and never come close to running out of pellets once my hopper is full.

Troutman thanks! I should have noted I was asking about cooking low and slow (225). I'll fix that error.

Altitude and humidity matter. Higher up you are, pellets will burn faster. High humidity everything cooks faster.

Close to 4,000 ft elevation, but semi arid climate, so humidity isn't usually an issue.

Maybe you can email Malcom Reed and ask him since he owns a Yoder 640. You might get your answer quicker.

This answer came from their website. Hope it helps.

The cookers will run up to 12-hours depending on the cooking and ambient temperatures.

I ran a 640 on overnight cooks in TX. Some where weather at night was in the 50s, others in the 70s. Would start with a full bin at 10pm and check it about 7am. Never close to running out. I would always top off at that point. Never tried a straight 12 hour without filling.

I’m still figuring stuff out with mine too. On a 40-50 degree day I did a nine hour cook and used 10 lbs of pellets or so. I haven’t had consistent temps or wind speeds or done very long cooks since. Looking forward to some weather which is less
            erratic.
