I'm re-entering the realm of Pellet poppers! The BBQ delight (Cherry and Pecan) wont be here for a couple weeks (the cost of shipping in a timely manner was more a lot more than the cost of the pellets so took the free option which is 7 to 10 business days or 2 weeks) Right down the street the hardware store has tons of Treager pellets. However I remember Treager made their pellets out of alder wood and then soaked them in some solution, making for a bland smoke flavor. Does anybody know if Treager has come into the 21st century and started useing all hard wood for what ever type they are selling?

To be honest I'd be careful of anything Treager. Not trying to bash anyone but the reviews on their grills since they started manufacturing them in China have not been good. I can only assume their pellets follow suit, but can't say for sure.
You might want to look into Lumberjack pellets. If you get a couple of friends together, they will ship you in bulk. I bought 500# from them shipped here to Houston for $188, or about $0.37/lb. That's about $7.50/20# bag !!! 100% all hardwood pellets in whatever kind you like. You have to go through this dealer, he can let you know and hook you up with other folks in the Lubbock area who may be interested. You have to buy a minimum 1 ton, so if you want 500# that means 4 of you. Check it out ....

I also use Lumberjack pellets and they burn nicely. However, I need to disagree with your Traeger comments from my recent experience. I own a Pro Series 22 that I purchased last year and it is an excellent smoker. I have found mine to be extremely reliable, hold temps well, produce plenty of sweet smoke and make great tasting food. I've used their pellets as well and they are fine.

Hey like i said dshaffes , there has been a lot of chatter on this and other forums about Traeger's lack of quality of late. I certainly don't know first hand and didn't mean to offend any Traeger owners. If you're happy with your smoker then smoke on brother!!

Troutman jars of rabbit food should not alarm anyone. In the meantime check out these cool shoes I got. Took a picture of them with the flash on.

Thank you LA Pork Butt Unfortunately Mom passed away Jan 21 (no warning nothing one min she was fine the next she was gone) it hit me hard she was getting so much better I was really beginning to believe she was going to outlive me. I basically shut down but then its a flurry of activity, plan the funeral, Probate the house (even being an only child so nobody to contest the will is still a muilti week ordeal.) My Mom being my Mom Had 1 more surprise up her sleeve. Once the will was retrieved from the safety deposit box there was one extra item. A note (and a life insurance policy) The note read Mark this is for you! its not to use for things you need its for things you want!! Love Mom. Needless to say I broke down right there in the lawyers office. I would much rather have Mom back but that was just my Mom being my Mom. So I was able to order the new Pellet Grill! (and a few other things) I'm not bothered by being in the house alone (as much) and I am beginning to slep though the night again. I (as she was) am an only child so now completely alone in the world. (I have wonderful Friends who have kept me going including AR members) Things will get better but will of course never be the same.

When I first started I bought a Traeger. In my opinion, they are way over priced. For the same amount of money you can get a much higher quality grill. As far as their pellets, I personally don't see much of a difference in quality compared to Cooking Pellets which I currently use. They are also cheaper and more readily available locally. At least around here anyways.
