Thanks for the share DW... been waiting to see what the big news was.

      I’m liking the competition cart.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Rec Tec especially for the price, I have heard a lot of good thinks about them.

Digging the Trailblazer. I've been eyeing the mini off and on. I wouldn't cook much volume in a pellet grill, maybe a chuck or a turkey but that's probably it.

Currently own a RecTec and love it. I can not say enough good about it. But I am sure trying to find a reason for an upgrade to one of the new styles. Hard to convince my wife I need a new one. Though she does enjoy everything I have made on the current one.

Wives are funny that way. I try to use the "it's for work" approach and that really doesn't work well either. Something about a diamond bracelet first or something..

Aside from Wifi I cannot see what the new 700 model would really buy you over the 680 that you have. And if you have a remote wifi thermometer already, the only thing it really buys you (the wifi) is being able to change the cook temp remotely. If they had a temp lower than 200F, you could dial it down to a holding temp remotely when the meat is done.

I talked to Rec Tec about these around the first of the year and they said that the new controller and side table will fit the 680. So you can add that on for way less than buying a whole new rig and you'll still get the new temp probe control features.

Hmmmmm, nice.....I sure don't need the Wireless Fidelity but I am sucker for stainless.

If I could go back in time, I would have bought a Rec-Tec instead of my Webber. Now, don't have room for even the Bullseye. *sigh*

I have cast iron for searing. I have a torch for searing. I have a stovetop for searing... searing is almost the least important thing I do on the grill.

If I had thought really long and hard, it'd be the original Rec-Tec with an induction "burner" for the cast iron and a pressure cooker.

But I have limitations, due to the wood porch on a condo building in an urban environment. No charcoal...

Yeah, I can understand that limitation. I've got my grills on concrete, and the occasional lit coal has been known to hit the ground when dumping a chimney of lit coals into the grills. I don't light the chimney on the ground - always do that up on a grill's grate, but still.... Do they allow pellet grills?

Chicago rewards folks who find loopholes. Laws here involve: no propane storage in dwellings (mine are outside), no charcoal, obviously no splits. Pellets are not excluded in building insurance or city ordinance.

I'm told the new wi fi controller will be available to our older grills later this spring. Can't wait!

Pricing sure looks real good compared to what it was. Also like the Wi-Fi capabilities, I called Pellet Pro to see if there was going to be an update for mine and they said it was at least a year off.

Yesterday I was told that the price on the new controller will be $99. Pretty good! When they become available I will be ordering one along with the new firepot/ignitor system.

mgaretz Are you sure about that price? I was told (unofficially) that it would be $199.

Yes I asked twice! But all I know is that's what he said. He may not have told me correctly.

However the new (now old) controller with the stainless shelf is $149, so $99 for just the controller could be right. Maybe $199 is controller with stainless shelf?
