- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
They have a 5PM EST broadcast on Facebook, probably about it. I looked at it after a friend who JUST received his Woodwind over the holidays got an email about their "event" today.
The new grill follows Traeger's recent designs and makes a more oblong (up and down) body, to increase interior height. The lower grate is the same size, but the upper grate and grate to grate clearance looks dramatically increased. They've also added a 2nd meat probe, for 2 meat probe inputs, and they've increased the hopper capacity by 4 pounds, to 22 pounds pellets total.
The big thing other than the above they have done its to add a sliding heat deflector, to allow you to "direct grill" easily. Personally, while I don't have a pellet unit (yet), I feel that the fire pot is so small in comparison to the size of the grate, that it will never be like direct grilling, unless its in the dead center of the grate, and you add Grillgrates or something like that to the grill.
All in all, if I did not have one, I think the increased smoking capacity makes it attractive. They do not give the clearance between racks on the specifications, and I wish they did. I do not think the sliding diffuser for direct grilling is a big deal however. And 22 versus 18 pounds of pellets is not a big deal either.

I've heard good things about the Woodwind pellet grill and am thinking about buying my son one for his birthday in spring. My experience with the quality of Camp Chef products and customer service has been very positive. If they have a product I'm looking for I will generally buy it with confidence.

I did catch some of the live CampChef FB feed this afternoon and all you new Woodwind owners can relax. My take is the new SG pellet grill is an attempt to add some versatility to basic pellet cooking by adding food capacity, pellet capacity and a way to direct grill over a "wood" fire. In the video they did some direct grilling at around a max controller temp of 450 and with the special diffuser in place seemed to have quite acceptable results. I wouldn't expect any real searing performance so save that for the Woodwind or a DLX with the 900 degree grill box. But for a lot of folks IMO this will be nice rig to smoke and grill with all the convenience of pellets.
