First cook with Fire Craft Q-450

Finally had the time to inagurate my Fire Craft Q-450 today. Decided to go with a boneless pork loin since it would be fairly quick, and I would be able to compare the results with indirect cooking on the Sabre Grill. I seasoned with salt and pepper and did a cinnamon rub. Cooked at 230 degrees to 138 degrees internal temp on the Q-450 display. It turned out a perfect medium pink throughout, and was really jucy. Served it with an Applejack brandy sauce, Rice, asparagus, and cinnamon scalloped apples. Pics attached. Click image for larger version

Had not heard of that particular brand of pellet cooker, looks like a nice one. Glad you like to cook pork just a touch on the rae side, so much juicier that way. Nice plating job as well. Good report sir !!

Nicely done!! So, how would you compare a pork loin coming from the Q-450 vs your Sabre? Curious to hear...

To answer both questions: 1. The cook was just over 2 hours. That’s why I went with the boneless loin, didn’t have all day to cook something like a butt or brisket. 2: Comparing the Q-450 with the Sabre: Much easier to control cooking temp on the Q-450 - just set and forget. With the Sabre I have to continually adjust the burners to keep the temp where I want it. But the Sabre is a gas grill with all infrared burners, not a smoker. It serves its intended purpose very well. That’s why I have both - the right tool for the job. As far as the cook - both gave a perfectly cooked and juicy piece of meat. Just a bit more smoke flavor with the Q-450. (I put a pouch of chips in the Sabre when I did the loin).
