    Yoder Ys1500

Hey All! I was just curious if anyone had any experience with the Yoder ys1500 pellet smoker? I don't see a lot of videos on it so I thought I'd ask if anyone had one or had any hands-on experience with it.

Welcome to the Pit! I’ve NOT used Yoder pellet grills, but I’ve used others. From what I’ve read, the Yoder’s are very well made.

Thanks. I'm looking for a new pellet smoker. I currently have a rec tec mini. I love it but I need something bigger.

bbqurian , that YS1500 is a LOT bigger! I would guess you could easily fit 5 briskets or more in there.

Welcome to the Pit! Going from a RT mini to a Yoder YS 1500... that would be a HUGE step up in size. From everything I have read, it is a very solid smoker! Question though... how many people do you cook for on a regular basis and do you like to entertain A LOT, or perhaps do some catering? I too was looking at the 1500 last year, mainly because it’s sooo manly (lol)... but after talking with numerous guys/gals that have actually cooked on a 1500, it didn’t take long to realize it would have been way overkill for me. Not trying to be negative, just sharing my journey in my quest for a pellet grill. IMO, if this is for backyard cooking, the Yoder YS 640 is tough to beat if your are sold on the Yoder brand.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't say I am sold on the yoder brand, I just wanted to try something different and I do hear good things about it.

I cook competitions on a Yoder Cimarron Pellet Trailer. It’s bigger than the 1500, but very similar setup.

From what I have read, the 1500 has a different diffuser plate than the 640 which gives it more evenly distributed heat. Some also say it has a smokier flavor. I have only used the 640 so can't say anything from personal experience.
