Been scouring the interwebs and trying to learn about these two machines (as I want to move out of the GMG - having soot problems). I know that the RecTec uses a PID controller and still trying to figure out about the Yoder. Have read that there have been some some temp discrepancies with Yoder. Also wondering about WiFi capabilities for either or if that is still the sole domain of GMG an now Traeger with the new Timberline series. Looking for advice and experiences y'all might have had. I understand that both have great customer service. Also noted that the RecTec folks have their own subforum here and wondering if that is demonstrable of the loyalty off the customers to these machines.
Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to all.

Ding ding ding Round.... well whatever round it is....
Well let’s see who is first to recommend another Cooker, KBQ, Kamado...
from all the comments im guessing you will be happy either way... while I the RecTec is more my price range... a yoder 640 with competition cart is where my desire is...
Hated to ask, however, aficionados are here and figured folks might have an insight to the WiFi question. I'm like you RecTec price better for my wallet but 640 for my heart.
Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.
In the same boat as you. Looking for a new pellet smoker. I have a rec tec mini, which I love. I've put out some amazing food from that Lil thing, but looking for something bigger. Right now it's between a rec tec 680 or a Yoder. I too heard of something new rec tec is releasing, I believe in February. So I'm putting off my final decision until then.
Good luck on your search. Can’t imagine doing any until February myself. I’ll post what I find out from my friend when I see his Yoder and talk some more with him about it too. Will try to get positive and likely, more important, negative feedback from him about the Yoder to make decisions.
So I just came back from a BBQ supply place in New Symerna. He sells Yoder smokers along with other pellet smokers. I asked him what he thought of them and he told me as far as build quality they are superior. Built very well and I can agree, when I went to see and touch them, they are tanks! However he told me as far as food, it puts out the same quality as any other pellet smoker. No better no worse. In fact, he told me, if I wanted a more "smokier" tasting food, to go with the GMG, which they sell, only because it has a fan that pulses instead of continuous blowing. My rec tec mini does that.
