Hello All,
I went and picked up My Jim Bowie Grill this Morning. Even though I was alone assembly was a breeze. I Was able to connect the WiFi point to point with my IPhone & IPad very easily but was not able to update the firmware. I think I need to be closer to my Router. The firmware it has is V6.3, and there is a newer one available so I will try that again another time. Some of the updates are apparently for better temperature control in colder weather so they may be useful. I did the initial burn in and set up some temperature probes to see how even everything is. It is not terrible in my opinion, however there is an obvious hot spot in the center which is to be expected because that is where the firebox is. I am pretty sure it will be better with a good load on it.
I kept the first cook super simple and did Italian Sausage, and Buffalo Chicken Brats. Messed around with temperatures, high and low. The grill really gets up to temperature very quickly even though it’s cold outside. Tomorrow I will try Pizza.
