Bulk Pellet Purchase

Well in my quest to get away from what I consider the high cost of cooking pellets (most of which is due to shipping so I've gathered), I was turned onto the following website that caters to customers who want to do bulk buys for Lumberjack Pellets only (my brand of choice at the moment). They coordinate, ship and alert a group of folks in your city to come to a central location and pick up bags. You have to buy a minimum of 13 - 40# or 26 - 20# bags in what ever mix and match flavors you want (which amounts to a 1/4 ton of pellets). Cost is around $185 so doing the math that's $14.23/40# bag, less then half of what I pay to have them shipped here via Amazon. Once they get 4 requests, they ship a one ton pallet to your city and you go pick them up.

Hope this helps if your're looking to cut your pellet cost down to something reasonable.....

According to the website, a quarter tonne of 40 pound bags is $199 ($15.31 a bag). A full tonne is $495 ($9.90 per bag) Seems to me if you have the means it makes more sense to purchase a full tonne. That way you don't have to wait for four orders in your area to materialise before they ship. And if a full tonne is more than you'll ever need, a CL ad with a slight mark up would relieve you of the excess and lower the cost for yours a bit more. Question is, does that price include shipping, or is that extra? Obviously it is coming LTL, so if you had a choice of carrier you might consider Fastenal, they have the lowest rates.

I paid $185 and some odd cents which included shipping and coordinated handling. They put me with three other guys here in Houston within 3 days. Maybe I got lucky on the timing but any way you cut it, it’s the best deal out there and the way to go. I have no storage area available for what would be 52-40# bags if I ordered a full ton.
