Just had a 10x10 Ozark Trail ($60) tent collapse under rain. Granted....we had gusts up to 50 mph.
Does anyone have any experience with higher end canopy tents? I've got a few quotes for them but they're $300-$900 depending on the level of construction. I don't mind spending a little bit but also don't know if they're just overpriced.
My horizontal smoker has a umbrella mount built into it.
I use a canopy sometimes too. This is a 13X13 with a vented top. I can get my horizontal under it but not the vertical. It was raining so I set the canopy up to cover the food and the back end of the vertical so I didn't get wet putting food in the smoker or tending the fire. My weather gear has to be portable because I cook at other people's sites quite often. At home I back the smokers up to the garage and I stay nice and dry. Once the smokers are up and running it takes a real downpour to effect them.
I run my pk and pbc in any weather. The wind is problematic but if I’m running the thermostatic controller it automatically compensates. Electronic inside the deck boxes.
Rain in hats on the pbc and pk will allow them to run or be off in any weather, hat for the propane burner is just easier than a tarp and allows airflow for drying.
I really hate covering with tarps because of the trapped moisture, now I don’t have to deal with them.
