Though imagine my reaction when the shipping company called yesterday to schedule delivery...for Monday. I went from elation to bitter disappointment in the blink of an eye. Now I have to wait all weekend.

Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.
Lucky for me, I still have a Traeger Select on hand, so not as painful as I'm making it out to be. I'm just sad I don't get to play with my new toy this weekend.

Sorry for the delay, folks. The shipping company decided to make my smoker the 10th stop of the day. So my 10:00-2:00 delivery appointment was dropped off at 5:00. Spent yesterday assembling, moving, and testing the Grid Iron. I'll post some pics here, but not quite ready for a review. First picture is right after I pulled the cardboard off the pallet. Second pic is the unit fully assembled, with the grates and drip tray removed, and sitting in its proper place on my back deck. Third photo is of the new pit sitting next to the Traeger Select I've been cooking with ever since I sold my other two Traegers 4 weeks ago.

Really nice looking cooker. I wasn’t a fan of that model Traeger. I played around with one that was on Craigslist and passed on it. Do you like that model?
The hopper on this thing is YUGE! They claim it's the biggest on the market, and say it holds 30 pounds, but I'm pretty sure Rec Tec has them beat on hopper size at 40. This pic doesn't do a great job of showing just how big the hopper is, but I only put 10-12# of pellets in it, which filled it 1/3 of the way at most. That would have almost filled the hopper of the Select next to it.
Love the Copper Vein color. Their web site doesn't do it justice.
When i recently got my new pellet grill (Rec Tec 680), I followed some suggestions that the first cook be bacon, which I had never done on a grill. Turned out so good, I've done bacon a lot since then.
Looking forward to more pics of the cooks and your impression on the Grid Iron. If you remember, I had narrowed my purchase down to the Grid Iron and Rec Tec, and decided to go with the Rec Tec. Have loved it so far and so has the family. Putting on my first full packer brisket tonight.
Yeah, I remember talking with you when I was still deciding which to go with. I don't think my pictures do the copper vein justice either. I feel like it looks more brown in photos than it really is.
