We fired it up a couple times before we painted it to make sure that everything was going to work correctly. It has 3" of insulation in the walls and ceiling. It was around 30 Fahrenheit outside when we tried it and it would get to 225 in about 11 minutes. It holds temp really well.

Thanks guys and gals for all the great comments. We haven't cooked any thing in it yet. We test fired it a couple times before we painted and it held temp very well. I will definitely post some pictures of it in action.

That's a great mod! I love the Pellet Pro PID controller. It really holds temperatures tight. Good luck on your first cook.

How do you like the smoke daddy burner? Are there any other options to purchase pellet burner assemblies?
