Well this is a new one for me. Threw on a 12 lb butt last night around 11 pm. Woke up around six a.m. to check on it and the temp was dangerously low for some reason. Hopper wasn't even near empty. So I turned it off and restarted it ( meat was still warm so I wasn't stressing over it bring inedible ) and it kicked on fine. Went to brush the pool as I had just installed new filters and heard a loud pop. Whole smoker was engulfed in flames. My easy bake oven was regularly cleaned, pellets were changed out, and it's only two years old. It is warrantied but I have to say I've got trust issues now. Time for a new one and a different brand....... any chance I'm winning first or second prize this month amazing ribs?

Most likely what happened is that when the pellet grill shut off the hopper was full of pellets. Basically the fire went out and the hopper was filled with pellets because it's 'brain' told it to feeding pellets to keep it going. Then when you started it again, and the pellets lite and then went boom. Too many pellets.
when that happens again, you need to clean out the hopper of pellets. Then light it.

Cookers I have:
Weber S-335 gas grill
Weber 26†kettle
Weber 22†kettle
Camp Chef XL Smoke Vault
Camp Chef 3 Burner cook top
Camp Chef Woodwind 36 Pellet grill with sidekick burner
PBC
Accessories:
SnS XL
SnS standard
Vortex
Weber Rotisserie for 22†Kettle
1st gen FireBoard
2nd gen FireBoard
Griddle for Camp Chef cooktop
Several Thermoworks items
Set of Grill Grates
This is why I've never left any of my grills/smokers unattended for long periods of time. People that say a pellet grill is a "set and forget" cooker have never had a burn back or flame out. I had a GMG that had major issues catching the auger on fire no matter what pellets I used. Needless to day I no longer have that cooker.
