Just got my new Mak 2 Star

I had Mak 2 Star 327 back in the day. I ended up selling it a few years ago - hey we all make mistakes.
After a visit to Mak headquarters a couple of weeks ago and a few phone calls and a LOT of reading on the various forums I pulled the trigger today. It was a beautiful day for a drive down the Willamette Valley and I drove home with my new grill.
MakGrills customer service is legendary; but they really went the extra yard today. As you can see from my avatar and my user name I am a Route 66 fan - even my blog is 2For66.com I grew up near the Mother road as a kid and we'd drive the road to visit my grandparents in Winslow, Arizona. So, on a whim I asked Caleb, Dennis, and Rick if there was a grill with "66" in the serial number. Now most companies would say "pound sand; you need to take the next one in line." Dennis and Rick walked the warehouse and they found "3966" which was just finished last Friday. They had to move some grills around to pull it out of the back. SCORE! It was so nice of them to accommodate my wish.
Then, to get it in the back of my Subaru Outback, they had to unbox the big parts and load them individually in the back.
Sunday my son is coming over for Mother's Day and he's going to help me unload it and put it together.

Wow, you’re going to be driving around for a few days with that mochine in yer Sub. Must be quite a sight. Can’t wait for the unpacking & first cook. Cool happening!

Being stuck in the back with a big plastic bag over it, there isn't much to see yet. But I'll definitely get pics up soon.

Congrats. Photos of the assembly and the finished cooker would be real nice.

        Thanks! I feel fortunate.
I'll try to get pictures of assembly as that was something I wanted to look at before buying. But I'll probably get all wrapped up in the process. Regardless, I'll post pictures of the assembled unit.

I didn’t realize MAK Grills were based out of Dallas, Oregon. Might have to take a trip down there! #MCS

I'm super jealous of the extra rack options! I need to set some time aside to call MAK and get my controller in to swap with the new probe input! What extras did you fail to talk yourself out of?

The bad think about procrastinating for a few weeks ago is - as you said - I failed to talk myself out of things.
                      . Mak Mobile
                      . Cabinet Cover
                      . Searing grate
                      . Griddle
                      . Front shelf
. I even bought the $20 accessorie hangar for the power cord
Then since I picked it up on site they threw in
                      . Cover
                      . Upper grate (I chose the 3/4)
                      . Rib rack
. An extra 20 lbs of pellets

I did it all knowing I probably won’t be able to get the courage or money to get them later. After I retired I went back to work for a year and made some extra $$$.

That extra rack is nice. Picking it up on site they threw one in. I picked the 3/4 upper grate which looks to be plenty big to hold a brisket. My current thinking on smoking is I’ll put the meat on the upper rack - a notch or two above the main grate and put a disposable aluminum pan below to catch the drippings. I read about that approach either here or another forum.

I highly recommend it if you are within driving distance. Everyone I talked with was knowledgeable and gracious with their time. Bob even took me on a tour of the factory.
