I have been using a PBC for the past couple of years and really like it. But I want to step up to a pellet smoker for some more advanced cooking. I pretty much settled on getting a MAK grill. But I am unsure which one. Is the MAK2 really worth $1000 more than a MAK1? It seems like you get a warming box and a better system for searing with the MAK2. Is there any other reason to pay the extra $1K? Any tips or comments would be appreciated!

Thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate it. There are so many good options for pellet smokers. It's hard to choose! I have been looking at the RecTec as well with the added cold smoke box. It seems like a great product and is much cheaper than the MAK. Is there any reason to pay the extra money for the MAK over the RecTec? I know a lot of this is subjective. But I really value the opinions of the folks on this forum.
I was faced with the same decision last year & I went with the MAK 1 Star over the 2 Star & Rec Tec but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. You can cold smoke with your PBC and the Amaze N Maze or Tube. I think the MAK's controller gives it a leg up on the Rec Tec but I also think ithe decision will largely come down to your preference on price.
Thanks for the advice. I hadn't heard about the Amaz-n-tube thing before. It looks like a great addition to a PBC for cold smoking. I'll pick on of those up ASAP!

I bought the Amaze N Maze & used it to cold smoke cheese in my PBC. When you light it up, make sure to keep your heat source on the front end of the pellets for at least 60 seconds. This will help ensure that the pellets smolder throughout your session. Good luck with everything!
