I can't be the only one who saw LSG's recent Instagram posts. They're getting ready to sell wood chips that will burn in their pellet smokers. Looks like you can mix them with pellets, or do exclusively chips.
Am I the only one who's really excited about this? I don't know how much they'll cost or if they'll significantly improve the results, but it seems promising.
Uh oh. Now I want the LSG pellet cooker. Well, I’ve wanted it since it came out. But now I REALLY want it. Oh my Recteq 700 is great and all. But hey. MCS baby!!
You can do that with almost any pellet cooker (the ones that don't die at the sight of a long and or thick pellet anyway) as long as you get consistently small enough wood chips, which is what I suspect LSG is doing. Honestly surprised no one has done this sooner.
Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking. It doesn't seem like something that would be unique to the LSG. I'm definitely intrigued that they're producing appropriately-sized wood chips though.

I have the LSG pellet and I am not sure how the smoke profile can be improved BUT LSG is selling the chips. I have added some hickory pieces on top of the deflector plate and that works well. Didn't have to expose the flames from the firepot, just set the wood on the heated plate.
I also like the looks of the Camp Chef Woodwind Pro with the smoke box. If my current Camp Chef stops working, I'm going to have to convince my wife I need one of those.
