So we had a major cold front come through yesterday. Outside it is about 45 F with wind gusts from the north at 20 mph. My Chimp is perpendicular to the direction of the wind; the wind is just hitting it constant from behind.
I'm doing jerky, so I'm rolling at 190 F, which is quite low. Normally, this low I run on PID mode, but I forgot and kept it on PRO. About an hour into the cook, I got the low temp alarm -- never had that before! -- and yep, we flamed out. What probably happened is that during the low point on the PRO cycle, a gust of wind just took it out.
The Chimp did recover on its own after I switched it to PID mode, which was quite nice.
