Grilla Mammoth? (Vertical Pellet Smoker in the works?)

Malcom Reed posted a pit beef sandwich video a few days ago and halfway through there is a very curious smoker in the background. It's vertical in form factor and has a Grilla cover on it, with the word Mammoth (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN4zvU3pNdM) clearly visible:

Given that Malcom recently started a partnership with Grilla and that he is quite commercially astute, I doubt this video shot happened by chance. (I mean, it is perfect rule of thirds!)

I've only done a cursory search, but the website CookOutNews wrote this bit recently (https://www.cookoutnews.com/possible...ts-for-2023/):

"They [Grilla] trademarked the name Grilla Mammoth, which is described as being in the category of vertical barbecue grills and smokers."

So, it appears that Grilla is adding a vertical smoker (I assume pellet driven) to their line up. I wonder if we'll see it by December.

Verticals are sweeeeet. Especially if you can hang all da meats.

DaveD briskets cook very efficiently. Sausage is better in my opinion. Murdy I have a deflector plate that the juices hit and steam off as if they are hitting coals and it produces a very moist environment, almost too moist in my opinion along with my water pans.

In my Pit Boss vertical p-smoker, there is no opportunity for juices to drip onto anything hot - the water pan in the bottom is where they land. Just how that one is configured.

DaveD my Camp Chef Smoke Vault is the same way. That's the first thing I wanted to change when I built the vertical.

I wouldn't mind seeing a gravity feed from them.

This will be fun to watch. Also thrilled that Malcolm Reed has partnered with Grilla. Huge fan of both!

It was a little jarring to long term fans of his videos. Suddenly, without warning, a Silverbac replaced his Traeger Ironwood. There was no mention of it being new or different; it was as if it had been there for years. I do think he is still a partner, or at least a fan, of Traegar, as the Traeger grills have come up in later videos, just not as ubiquitous as they were.

It will be interesting to see how they market this vis-`a-vis the OG. They both look to be roughly the same footprint. Depending on the internal arrangement, the Mammoth would have the larger capacity.

(Footprint was a major factor in my pellet grill decision, but I went with the Chimp over the OG due to cost. Certainly I don't think the Chimp is going away as it is their only true portable grill.)

Grilla Mammoth? Or Grill A Mammoth? You know, cloning.

I just got an email that Grilla is making a "MAMMOTH" announcement tomorrow, Dec 19th.

Looks like a vertical cabinet style pellet smoker from some of the tease photos and video.

One of Grilla's graphics has it with all ten racks installed and the capability of doing 500 chicken wings at once. I, sadly, can never own one as I probably would do 500 wings at once. For dinner. For just me.

I would like to have this for no other reason than just because…

Back when I was looking for a higher capacity pellet burner I might have considered this. Although probably not, since I try to buy US made cookers when possible.

While I wouldn’t buy it (I am done with cords for the time being), I do kinda love it.

Someone here once said there seems to be two strategies for smoker builders. Source from China and invest the savings in slick marketing, how to videos, easily available customer service and lots of great recipes and extra content (see Malcolm Reed). Or build American and invest the money in quality but less in marketing and content. Both seem viable. Grilla certainly does a very good job on execution!

Grilla made the initial inventory available to current Grilla owners as a soft-launch and some of the pictures are starting to flow in on Grilla's Facebook group of members setting theirs up.

It is a big grill. Mammoth was a very appropriate name!
