Anyone with an OG had this happen? My OG started tripping the power whenever its turned on. Usually happens a few times before it works. My guess is something to do with the auger motor on start up. I clean it out after almost every use, it was cleaned last time i used it which was the super bowl.
It's almost always a bad ignitor when that happens with any pellet grill. Is it damp in the grill? Has it been raining at least lately? Those conditions can make a very small failure in the ignitor trip the GFCI. Mines bad on my MAK but only in certain weather so I haven't bothered to reach out and get a replacement.
What I usually do is run the cord inside through my deck door and run it off a non-gfci until the grill fires up, then quickly unplug and replug into my exterior GFCI. A few short minutes during the ignition is enough heat and airflow to dry up the ignitor and its no longer an issue. Is this a safe method? Probably not, but it works and I'm not dead yet.
Thanks guys. It has rained recently although the grill was under its cover and a gazebo but damp air for sure at times. I had thought it was some old pellets maybe jamming the auger but its good to know the ignition is a common cause. This is my first pellet grill so im good on the cooking part but still learning all the troubleshooting.

It is indeed. Ironically since i thought it was the auger i took it out and removed the few pellets that the shop vac didnt get out after the last use so i dont actually know if it was that or the ignition but based on responses im still leaning towards a damp ignition.
Back in college, had a good friend we called tripper. Probably for another reason. Rich lawyers son always had the good stuff...one spring break went to California, and nobody has seen him since, including his dad.
