    Thermal blanket use in summer?

Have the gmg trek with thermal cover installed. Is it OK to leave on for summer, or is it going to create issues?

I'd be concerned with condensation forming overnight, which could lead to rust and/or mold happening underneath. but who knows, especially if it's pretty dry where you are

For my Recteq, the owners manual says to not use it with outside ambient temperature over 50 degrees. So I follow that advice and remove it as directed.

I wouldn't. Actually I don't even use one in the winter.

I also have a GMG Trek, I leave the blanket on all year round ... my thinking is that I always read about the best smokers have 1/4" steel construction - that is to retain heat. I am thinking the blanket is similar to creating an "insulation" to keep heat from escaping or from the sun beating down on the smoker heating it up. Have not had any issues. Good question and debate!

I always kept a welding blanket on my COS. And the air gap insulated lid on my pellet pooper is always on also.

Are you referring to full time, while storing? If so I'd say check it once in a while to make sure there's no wetness under it, and if not you're probably ok. If there is, I'd remove it except for when cooking.

I've not had any condensation issues(the grill is covered when not used). I thought that the extra insulation couldn't hurt, but was questioning why blankets don't seem to be used year round. I get where condensation could be an issue in some environments, but typically would that be the big reason they're not used year round?
