For several years before there was such a thing as Choice or Prime, I worked for a dealer ordering, assembling/burning in (did this for all sold unless owner didn’t want), and repairing GMGs. A couple of recent news items might be worth sharing. My old employer said that in order to get 2.0 models he would be required to buy 10 of the old models at regular dealer price. He spoke with the distributor who over the years really just collected commissions (we ordered direct not thru him) and came by once a year or so, and that reps higher end grills and smoker in addition to GMG. The reps opinion was that the pellet grill market was saturated and pretty much holding a steadily declining share in the grill/smoker market, and opined that in his opinion the novelty of pellet grills was wearing off.

Yeah, not so sure about saturated. Both my brother and I would probably describe ourselves as pretty committed charcoal guys, and we've each bought pellet grills in last 3 months.
It would seem counterintuitive that a company like Weber, who I would expect employs a quite capable market research department, would choose to invest significant money into the development and introduction of pellet grills over the past few years in a declining market. But then again, they did apparently shoot themselves in the foot with respect to expected market acceptance of very good but expensive charcoal briquettes.
I'd say if anything it's saturated with options. Everyone is rushing to find some differentiation by price point and at the price point GMG plays in I can't really tell the difference between any of them.
The rep said pellet grill was saturated. I tried to look up sales figures. Could not find any. I would say he is sleeping.
Perhaps....but, no reason for him to misstate the situation or lie...doesn't improve his situation, his companies bottom line etc. you may say opinions are like <> but he has experience and hard information to base his assessment on.....could be wrong, could be that there aren't 50 pellet grill brands when there was only one of two....could be, could be
